These are an excellent choice for kitchens and utility areas. I would say the light, although warmer than most compact flourescents, is still on the cool white side but you soon adjust to it. Warm up time is quick. One advantage is that the light is more spread and less focused than a typical halogen light. I think if the quality and tone of light is vital, go for the 5w LED lamps, but as a compromise and lower initial cost these 11w megamans are great. I replaced 8 x 50w in my kitchen, and these are saving me a fortune.
