Though it is early days to see how these bulbs last and age, my initial impression is that these bulbs are excellent lower energy replacements for the equivalent 40W, or even 60W candle bulbs. Because they are halogen they have a slightly whiter light (higher colour temperature) and, if anything, are more "candle" like since the light comes from a more concentrated source. These are ideal as energy savers in candelabras where other low energy bulbs would look rediculous! In an eight arm candelabra, the energy saving over traditional 40W bulbs is approximately 100W (224W vs 320W) and the light output is better!
